NSW aim to eliminate hepatitis C by 2028. Engage your communities, engage your clients and aim for 2028 eliminate!

For those working with: people living with hep C, people who inject drugs, Aboriginal people, young people, people affected by the criminal justice system, or the general community.

At the end of the day you will be able to:

  • Know the difference between hepatitis A, B and C
  • Run activities for health promotion campaigns and group work in your service
  • Discuss confidently the new hep C treatments “Direct Acting Antivirals”
  • Navigate & build on local hep C testing and treatment pathways
  • Describe national harm reduction strategies and map local prevention options
  • Identify and address discriminatory barriers to health care.
  • Support people making informed decisions around their hep C and starting treatment.
  • Hear someone’s first-hand experience of hep C. BE INSPIRED!

Participants receive:

  • A kit packed with activities and tools for your organisation or group.
  • Statement of attendance

International Family Drug Support Day

“Behind every statistic of a drug related overdose death, arrest or hospitalisation there is a family suffering the pain. All too often in a cloud of stigma and shame.

The 1st National Family Drug Support Day was held on the 24th February 2016 – the anniversary of the passing of Damien Trimingham from a drug related overdose – will become an annual event to highlight the need for families to not only be recognised and heard but to be supported and encouraged to speak about their concerns and their needs.

Events are being held around the country to mark the International Family Drug Support Day on 24 February 2019”

World Hepatitis Day

World Hepatitis Day is observed on July 28 every year. It aims to raise global awareness of hepatitis and encourage prevention, diagnosis and treatment. World Hepatitis Day is one of eight official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The date (28 July) celebrates the birthdate of Nobel Laureate Baruch Samuel Blumberg, discoverer of the hepatitis B virus.

World Hepatitis Day is now recognised each year through events such as free hepatitis testing screenings, poster campaigns, political demonstrations, concerts, talk shows, flash mobs and vaccination drives.

Hepatitis NSW alongside NUAA, ACON, SWOP, HALC and PosLife will have a stall at this Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander festival.

Yabun Festival is the largest one day gathering and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in Australia, held annually on 26th of January upon the traditional lands of the Gadigal people in Sydney.

Established in 2001, Yabun (meaning ‘music to a beat’ in Gadigal language) is a free event that features live music, a bustling stalls market, panel discussions and community forums on Aboriginal issues, children’s activities, and traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural performances.

Yabun Festival welcomes everyone to join us in this one of a kind event which honours the survival of the world’s oldest living culture.
